Ngorongoro
Crater
Ngorongoro is the relict of a gargantuan
volcano that collapsed upon itself, leaving only a base of it's walls to
ring a crater 10 miles wide. The floor of the crater is 102 miles
square, with the height of the rim averaging 2,000 feet higher. Lush
vegetation, a soda lake, and animals condensed into a small area combine
to make this a great place for game viewing. We stayed at a
beautiful lodge located on the Crater rim - with great showers to come
home to after a long day in the dusty crater bowl!
